29 Reasons I Love My Husband

Today, I’m joining up with other wives at The Happy Wives Club to blog about  “Why I Love My Husband (the never-ending list)“.

In a world that thinks that “happy and wife are an oxymoron”, Happy Wives Club is “on a journey to prove love and marriage still go hand-in-hand, the ‘Happy Wife’ really does exist.”

29 reasons i love thee2

29 Reasons I love My Husband…

  1. He’s passionate about God and His ways.
  2. He’s a man of vision – he dreams big scary dreams
  3. He is intelligent and well-spoken
  4. His logical mind complements my emotional make-up (not always painlessly, but always needed!)
  5. He opens doors for me, often pulls out seats in restaurants.
  6. He is protective over me
  7. He’s very affectionate
  8. He cares about other people genuinely
  9. He makes me laugh
  10. He takes his role as provider seriously
  11. He listens when I ramble and tries to connect the dots
  12. He often disregards his own comfort to accommodate my needs and many wants
  13. He loves rap music and gadgets – and has made me adventurous in those areas.
  14. He tells me he loves me all the time
  15. He gives me the most amazing rubs and hugs
  16. He doesn’t care what other people think as much as I do (he keeps me balanced…when I grow up I want to be just like him)
  17. He is bold
  18. He has an awesome walking style – someone said he walks like an African warrior..totally agree!
  19. He irons his clothes and general picks up after himself
  20. He is super clean and smells good
  21. He enjoys being with me and misses me when we are apart
  22. He helps out in the house when he can
  23. He’s learned to hold my handbag!
  24. He delights in my culinary skills..even when the skills part is missing
  25. He loves to bless me and make me happy
  26. He encourages me, he is my cheerleader
  27. He is deeply loyal
  28. He has a great sense of style: he’s our official home decorator and my personal stylist
  29. He is my best friend, rock and hero…..

My list keeps growing..

How about you?

Can you make you own list? (Husbands can write a similar list for their wives)

(Now most of us already know the things we don’t like. And the tendency is to dwell there. How about we do something intentional today? Remind yourself why you love that man that God gave you? Our marriages can do with some giddy!)

If you need some more inspiration, read this post on why the never-ending list is such a marriage-booster.

Then go ahead and share some of the things you love about your husband/wife in the Comment Section below!

(and head on to Happy Wives Club Facebook page (with over 100,000 happy folks!) and leave some’ )

I just began my list this week and am so looking forward to the journey and enlightenment that I will walk away with as it all unfolds. To share something that I love about my husband….we can talk for hours and often lose track of time. It makes him laugh when my thoughts and words skip around–I’ll say, skipping back to….in the middle of another conversation. He loves me in spite of my newly acquired brain farts.

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

haha! you have an awesome husband Kim! I know some husbands wouldn’t find ‘skipping around’ hilarious..lol. You are blessed! Am happy you are working on the list. Let’s keep the fires burning!

What a beautiful list, Ngina! And that picture of you and your hubby look like you guys are having so much fun. Just the marriage should be, don’t you think?

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Thank you for stopping by Fawn! Yep, marriage should be fun! We must be intentional about it. That’s how God meant it to be.

  • Dave Arnold

Awesome post! It’s so important to find things we love about our spouce and reject what the world (and media) tells us, which is usually looking at the negative traits. I don’t have enough room to list all the things I love about my wife. I’ve often told her: it’s not books or sermons or friends who have had the most impact on me… it’s my wife. I am truly blessed!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

I love your last statement. A godly marriage is profound! It’s so true, we must tune out the world and tune into the fine things that our spouse are. Glad you came by. Blessings!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Am glad it’s inspired you Sarah! I know you’ll have fun doing it! (and it’s a never ending list…so the fun continuous :)

  • http://sparkvoice.wordpress.com/ DS

Isn’t it great to have a best friend – a trusted confidant – a person you can share anything with? Thanks for encouraging the bond of marriage!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

It’s so wonderful DS! I love it! God is simply amazing :)

  • Teresa

Most of the comments you make about your husband, I can say about mine. I can’t really add to the list. He does help out at home, in fact, I am ashamed to say, that he is better at cooking and cleaning than I.

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Teresa you are married to a wonderful man :) !

  • http://www.lincolnparks.com/ Lincoln Parks

This is so awesome Ngina. Darren Hardy mentioned that he did this for an entire year in his journal and then gave it to his wife as a present on Thanksgiving. Now imagine that. WOW, this is totally awesome and I will need to forward this to my wife so that she can jump in. Let me see does she have 29 reasons for me? :-)

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Wow that’s the next level! a whole year! He must’ve come away with a book :) Am sure Janice has awesome reasons! Thanks for sharing the post with her

  • http://danblackonleadership.com/ Dan Black

What a great post idea. Showing appreciation to our spouse is so important.

I love my wife’s strong faith in God, wonderful attitude, pureness about life, and commitment to our marriage.

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

I agree Dan, showing appreciation is super important. Our spouses need to hear it.

Your wife has wonderful traits. You are a blessed man :)

  • http://tcavey.blogspot.com/ TCAvey

Sounds like a wonderful man. Thanks for sharing. We should all take time to write down and share great things about our spouses! mine is a true gift from God, I learn that more with each passing day.

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

He is wonderful man. I love that you’ve found that to be true of your husband as well. I often think that even if I had a thousand years to choose a mate, i would never have close to this choosing him. God is a wonderful matchmaker.

Am glad yours too is a never-ending list! We learn new things and appreciate them more as time goes by.

  • http://www.lifeofasteward.com Loren Pinilis

I want to see a video of the way he walks now, haha. Great to see you so in love, Ngina. I’m certainly thankful for the blessing that is my wife.

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Ha! I should tape him. Funny how small seemingly irrelevant things stand out so much and keep us glued and in awe of our spouses. So true that real life is in the details :)

  • http://www.messymarriage.com/ Beth Steffaniak

This is a great idea–maybe one I could give my husband for Valentines Day. I think your husband sounds like a wonderful man. And I love your photo–so relaxed and loving. Keep up the good work, my friend! I love your passion for your hubby and for marriage, Ngina!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Beth, giving the list as valentines gift sounds like a great idea! I know your husband would be so blessed (I know mine was). Thanks for the kind words. It’s His grace and ability. God bless you my friend.

  • http://theregoi.com/ floyd

This is a great reminder that we all need to focus on the good things in life and of others. It’s so easy to dwell on others negative qualities, I think it’s habit forming. Good list. Got me thinking… Thanks, Ngina. And great picture!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Floyd I believe many of us choose to the easier road (dwelling on the negatives). I believe reminding ourselves of the great traits we love about our spouse will do wonders for our hearts and relationships.

Thanks for the photo complements! It was taken right before he threw me into the fountain. okay, he didn’t…but he tried :)

  • http://taunetnelel.blogspot.com/ JepB

I am doing a challenge that involves writing down why I love my mum. The things I don’t like are written in a ‘box’, so that in 40 days I share one good thing from the list and steer away from the ‘box’. The experience has been amazing, she definitely has no clue of what is going on – but our relationship is so much more pleasant. Great that you’ve done this list Ngina.

Let’s get the movement of more fulfilling relationships out there!

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

I love what you are doing JepB, wow. I should do something similar for mum ! I like your last statement ” let’s get the movement of more fulfilling relationships out there!’. Amen gal

  • Sheeko

Awww…….this is so beautiful! Please Lord help me not to become jealous of Ngina :-)

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

From your lips to His ears! Lol. Thank you Sheeko

  • Namale

    Sniff sniff…

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

      :) :) hihi

  • Tatuu

Love it! No. 18 made me laugh. No list yet…:)

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Tatuu, I hope you are laughing with me, not at me Lol. When that time comes, remember to do one :)

  • Paula Kent

Great post! Totally love it…when I cross the bridge, I will definately create a list ;-)

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Thanks Paula! Oh yes make sure you do :) It will bless you heart and bless his too!
