My Top Posts For 2012

post round up 2012

I have been mostly offline the last two weeks, taking time to enjoy the holiday season as well as finish up an ebook. I’ve made tremendous progress on the ebook but there’s still a little work left. Am hoping to share it soon.

Instead  of beginning the week with the usual marriage/relationship post, I thought I should begin with a round up of the most popular posts for 2012.

2012 Top Posts

I upgraded to self-hosted WordPress (from blogger) in June 2012  so the stats are really from mid year (as far as I can tell anyway)

The most interesting thing about these top posts  is that all but one were marriage and relationship posts!

As a blogger, this says something about direction and focus.

Here are my top posts for 2012

1. 10 Things Your Spouse Needs To Hear You Say

2. 30 Things You Can Learn From 4 years of Marriage

3. Will You Marry Me? (a guest post by Joseph Iregbu)

4. 7 Ways Marriage Has Made Me a Better Person

5. How To Love When You Don’t Feel Loving

6. What To Do When Your Journey Isn’t Clear (a guest post by Jessica Bufkin)

7. 7 communication Tips Every couple Should Know

8. 4 Ways To Work Through Early Marriage Kinks

9. Five Marriage Misconceptions

10. 30 Signs You Are Not Ready For Marriage

When it comes to community, a comment by Skip Prichard at Joseph Lalonde’s 2012 post round up sums it all;

“Just remember when you need something people come to your aid. Statistics  never show up when you call”. (Like the statement? You can click here to tweet it!)

To my commenters and blogging community, thank you for taking time to  comment, encourage and help me when I need it.

Some of you don’t appear on the top 6 but I thank you and appreciate your support. (I lost many comments when I moved to WordPress in the middle of the year, so most of the stats are from mid 2012)

To my precious readers and everyone that takes time to read  this blog, thank you for allowing me to speak to you. Thank you for the emails and twitter and facebook messages. You bless me and encourage me.

2013 is an awesome year and am looking forward to all that God has in store for us!

Question: What was your most popular post for 2012 if you are a blogger? If you are not a blogger, what was your most inspiring read for 2012? (it can be books, articles e.t.c) Please share in Comments

    Looks like you had a great 2012. Here’s to a wonderful 2013!

It was Loren. glory to God. Wishing you a great one as well!

Glad to see you back, Ngina. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your posts and look forward to more this year. And to your e-book!

I’m thinking of switching to a self-hosted sight sometime soon – do you know if your links from past articles still work when you switch? And if you still get the same amount of search engine traffic or if you have to start back at the beginning building up google traffic again?

I’m not looking forward to the switch but think I probably have to bite the bullet and do it!

My most popular post for the year was “Weight Loss Bible Study: Day 1.”

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Hi Barb, happy new year! good to read from you.

When I upgraded to self-hosted wordpress, I moved to a new domain. All my links are active – you don’t delete the old site but just redirect traffic to the new site – that keeps the links active.
From my stats, my traffic plummeted. I began from scratch. But the good thing about having a wordpress hosted site is that wordpress is already optimized, so traffic builds much faster (compared to blogspot anyway). You are on wordpress.com, not sure if that’s a plus in that regard.

It’s not a breezy process…but it’s possible:) (if i managed, anyone can..lol). Plus we have a great community that will help out! i relied heavily on them and they were awesome.

      • http://www.beyondthesinnersprayer.wordpress.com/ Barb

Hmm, that doesn’t sound encouraging! I guess if I’m going to do it though, I should do it and get it over with. Maybe I’ll wait til I”m through with the current series at least. Thanks for the info!

        • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

oh and the way I tried to be upbeat about it.lol
Yes, i agree finishing with the series is wise.

          • http://www.beyondthesinnersprayer.wordpress.com/ Barb

Haha, that’s so funny (in a dreadful sort of way) that you tried to be upbeat about it.

            • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

              hahaha…..

Ngina, Happy New Year. Glad to have you back, or maybe I was the one who was lost :)

It’s no surprise that your relationship posts made it to the top – I personally . ’30 signs you are not ready for marriage’ was a wakeup call to many singles, me included. Wishing you a great year and looking forward to reading more from you.

My top post was ‘You have one life, LIVE it fully.’ Here is the link: http://taunetnelel.blogspot.com/2012/05/you-have-one-life-live-it-fully.html

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Happy new year Jep! Am glad to be back and glad to read from you too. Am happy that the singles post made a difference. I desire to focus on Singles a little bit more this year, am thinking/seeking ways that I can can do that. Maybe you could help me out? :) I could shoot you mail once I’ve sorted it out in my head :)

Yes looking forward to a bigger awesome 2013! May His peace and uncommon favor be your portion.

      • http://taunetnelel.blogspot.com/ JepB

        Amen. Thanks for that prayer.

Awesome, singles are in need of wisdom.

I would be glad to help any way I can. Yes :-) you are welcome to connect on email and take it from there. Will be looking forward to that! Blessed day.

Thanks for pointing us to some of the treasures on your blog, Ngina. Many of the titles have peaked my interest already. And I’m thinking of doing the same thing with my blogger blog–moving to wordpress.org. Was it difficult? And what hosting site did you go with?

    • http://intentionaltoday.com/ Ngina Otiende

Am glad the round up has been helpful.

On moving to WordPress, I had tonnes of help from my wonderful community here. I am not very tech-savvy and had lots of questions! But it’s not a complex process, just that you need to be ready to learn.

I am with New Blog Hosting http://newbloghosting.com/ for now. I hope to move to Bluehost (I think Michael hyatt still has a great offer for those that sign up to blue host through his blog) for the sakes of bandwidth and such (New Blog is limited) . Peter, of new blog hosting was helpful with the actual migration of my blog from blogger to wordpress

There’s tonnes of great free material on how to set up self-hosted. John Sandton of tent blogger has a step by step plan on how to do it. http://tentblogger.com/launch-wordpress-blog/

Michael Hyatt has another great how-to post http://michaelhyatt.com/ez-wordpress-setup.html .

Going self-hosted is a great move! Once you start out that road, let me know, I’ll be glad to help out in any way i can.
