How does thinking over specific Bible verses help newlywed couples?
As a marriage coach, I have observed that couples who prioritize reading and believing the word of God have a more positive outlook when navigating marriage problems.
Making those hard decisions, accepting responsibility, staying accountable, admitting there are new ways to look at old problems suddenly becomes possible when they don’t depend on their willpower alone.
My husband and I started marriage on a roller-coaster.
I remember sitting in our small study, crying my eyes out, trying to make sense of my new life.
I tried to talk to God and read my Bible, but I was hurting so bad. Even familiar Bible verses didn’t seem to make sense or bring much comfort.
But through His grace, I continued reading and praying anyway. My time with God was a discipline, not a convenience or something I did because I felt like it.
The haze would break, and I would learn that the Bible isn’t just a source of comfort; it also instructs me, provides direction, and corrects me where I am wrong.
Why Bible verses for newlywed couples?
In his letter to Timothy, Paul the Apostle wrote,
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-16
The Bible isn’t just words in a book. It’s not ancient text with contemporary relevance.
The Bible is God-breathed: Alive and powerful. It teaches timeless truth to all who listen. It makes clear what is wrong, so we don’t have to wonder or wander.
It corrects wrong mindsets, beliefs, and habits and helps us do what is right. It prepares and equips us to do God’s good work. It changes us from the inside out.
Every newlywed couple who cling to the Word of God will see the fruit of their effort in their marriage. I believe that because the Bible says so.
But also, because my husband and I have experienced the transforming power of believing and meditating on Scripture in our marriage. As a Certified Marriage Breakthrough Coach™ I have observed the same truth at work in other marriages.
