Meet Jesus

How to start a relationship with God (the Author of marriage!)

Christianity is a relationship, not a religion. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

God created human beings for intimacy; unfortunately, sin separates us from having a relationship with Him. Sin simply means to disobey God – to do what He doesn’t like. The first humans, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God’s direct command.  That is how sin entered the world. Sin has a consequence, which is death.

But God loved us so much that He gave his Son Jesus to die in our place so we would escape the eternal consequence of sin which is death. And so Jesus died in our place and became a bridge between a holy God and us. “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. John 3:1-21

How to be born again

The Bible says in Romans 10:19

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

So how do you start a relationship with God? Simple. By accepting that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness and grace. By asking Jesus to save you! That’s it!

Remember that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. God loves you right where you are now. You don’t have to “clean up” or “earn” His love. You can come just as you are. There are no perfect people in God’s kingdom, only sinners saved by grace.

To start a relationship with God through His son Jesus, simply ask Him into your heart. You can pray something like this;

Dear Jesus, I need you. I am a sinner in need of your love and mercy. I ask you to come into my life and change me from the inside. I repent of my sin and ask you to help me know you and live for you. Amen

If you prayed that  prayer, you are saved! Welcome to the Kingdom of God! Please get yourself a Bible and begin to read it. Most churches give away Bibles; you can start reading from the book of John. Find a Bible believing church and fellowship with other believers to grow. Pray and read your Bible every day.

Remember Jesus loves you! He loves you right where you are now. But He also loves you too much to leave you there; He wants you to grow!
